Car Cleaning Tips
The best car wash is a hand wash.
“We recommend hand washing”.
Please don’t be like the 50% of the population out there that uses the dish washing liquid. This gets the car clean but will strip away the protective coatings like such as wax and paint protection coatings, exposing your vehicle to possible scratches and stains from bird droppings and other contaminates such as bore water.
Please use a good quality car shampoo.
Clean and polish your paint every 12 months.
It often takes more than a car wash to make your car paint look like new.
Bird droppings and man-made pollutants settle on the paint and, after a while can eat through your wax coat even worse your clear coat on your vehicle if not treated.
Polishing your glass.
You must always remember to roll down the side windows so you can get to those top edges.
Sometimes glass must be polished because materials have been deposited over time and needs to be physically ground off by a pro. Many detailers wax the rear and side windows to protect them from been etched by water stains.
Please use a good quality glass polish and coat your vehicle windscreen with a product called Rain X.
Cleaning those dirty wheels.
There are quite few products out there for cleaning your wheels. Car detailers use a specially formulated cleaner. This is not available to the general public but choose one that is a non-acid product.
Acid based cleaners can cause alloy wheels to dull and pit, and they can also cause damage to the painted clear coatings on the wheels.
Use a degreaser on the wheels clean one at a time and if you have a high pressure cleaner use this to wash off the degreaser afterwards this will make the job easier.
Always keep a box of wet wipes or baby wipes in the glove box.
Car owners sometimes forget that the best time to get rid of a spill or stain is when it’s still fresh.
A box of wet wipes is a handy way for Emergency clean ups. Wipe spills and stains as soon as you can before the stain or spill sets.
